OFFICIAL POLL: Help select our NON-FICTION book for Aug., Sept. & Oct. 2021
The simple rules...
Only vote if you will participate.
Please only vote if you actually plan to participate in the next NON-FICTION book discussion. We're not looking for your opinion of which book looks the most interesting. We're wondering which book or books you will actually read and talk about with us.
Vote for as many books as you like.
There are a total of 6 great choices in this poll. Please vote for ALL books in this poll you are interested in reading and discussing with us as a group. We'll read the one or possibly two books with the most votes so please don't vote for just 1 book if there is more than 1 book that you would enjoy reading and discussing.
Share your thoughts on why you voted the way you voted.
After casting your vote please feel free to make a post explaining why you voted the way you did. You just might influence other members to change their votes so please sell us on your choice. This is an optional step but quite helpful so please consider it.
Now here are your 6 choices...
BOOK 1: Think Again: The Power of Knowing What You Don't Know by Adam Grant
BOOK 2: Cosmic Queries: StarTalk's Guide to Who We Are, How We Got Here, and Where We're Going by Neil deGrasse Tyson
BOOK 3: Cynical Theories: How Activist Scholarship Made Everything about Race, Gender, and Identity - and Why This Harms Everybody by Helen Pluckrose & James A. Lindsay
BOOK 4: Are We Smart Enough to Know How Smart Animals Are? by Carol Leonnig & Philip Rucker
BOOK 5: Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency by Michael Wolff
BOOK 6: The Atheist Handbook to the Old Testament: Volume 1 by Joshua Bowen

Re: OFFICIAL POLL: Help select our NON-FICTION book for Aug., Sept. & Oct. 2021
My votes were quite eclectic, and I am not sure I could give a persuasive reason why someone else should be as interested as I am. I only voted for books I would be willing to buy and read. I would probably be open to the others also, but might be more likely to lurk and, as with the Dawkins essays, possibly never read the stuff but just comment on the comments. (Bad Harry! Bad! must iron my hands).

I won't read any books about Drumpf. I am sick of him and just cannot go there.

I voted for Cynical Theories because I seem not very aware of "wokedness" and political correctness in general. I would probably join a discussion of any of the other books as well.

Agreed. Why two books about the last days of the Trump Whitd House? One is enough.Mr. P wrote:I won't read any books about Drumpf. I am sick of him and just cannot go there.

I'm in Tennessee in a cabin in the Smoky Mountains on vacation until Wednesday. But I think I'm going to lock this poll right now and we can consider Think Again as our winner. There have been no additional votes in quite a while. You guys can order your books and get started. When I am back home I will create the forum.
