I am reading Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens. Up until a month ago I was unaware of this last published work of his.
Why I do not know!
Although I am familiar with most of his books by way of film (thank you BBC) this is the first reading I have tackled.
I am on chapter 13. He was quite a "wordy" fellow.
And I am forcing my way through to each piece of dialogue not skimming or skipping.
Also the search engine has become my friend when I am unfamiliar with a word from that era.
His sardonic humor is right up my alley. I now know that his genius can only be fully appreciated in reading his work.
an aside.... If he isn't the blueprint for the soap operas of our era I don't know who is!
