Post Reaction Videos
Some time ago a friend sent this link. An amazing piece of video. Elvis Presley, "If I Can Dream."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-pP_dCenJA

We lost the link and were looking for it, and we discovered "Reaction Videos." I'd seen a couple, years ago, but those were vocal coaches and such commenting on performances. This is something different. There are dozens or hundreds of videos of people sitting at their computers and listening to "If I Can Dream" for the first time. Young people. The gimmick (or premise, I guess) is that the song needs to be new to the listener, so the viewer can watch the reaction to hearing it for the first time.

Anyway, there are LOTS of people posting reaction videos on Youtube now. And they're making money from merchandising. It's a true cottage industry. Apparently you join their channel and send links to videos you want them to watch. They interrupt the music a lot to comment, but I think that's required by Youtube. You're not supposed to play copyrighted material through without interruption.

One of the comments I read on one of the videos said that there wouldn't be any riots right now if people were at home sharing videos--white people listening to black music, black people listening to white music.

Some of the ones we've bookmarked. I jump about a minute into the start of the video, to skip the merchandising:

THIS ONE BROKE ME! Tom Jones - I'll Never Fall In Love Again REACTION
(Looked at Jones' bio, and he had tuberculosis as a kid. Recovered well, I'd say. Listen to how strong his voice is.)

RUN DMC - Walk This Way (Video) ft. Aerosmith (REACTION!!!)
(Never heard this version of the Aerosmith song. Run DMC horns in on the action from next door. The guy's running commentary makes me chuckle.)

FIRST LISTEN TO | Ram Jam - Black Betty THIS S#!T SO DOPE MY NEW FAVORITE! (REACTION)
(This reviewer is just some stoner who fires up a joint and has no idea what he's about to hear.)

Stevie Ray Vaughan- Texas Flood Reaction

First Listen AC/DC | THUNDERSTRUCK (Official Video) | Reaction
(Like the reviewer I'd never heard this song. Incredibly powerful performance and a charged up crowd).

You can search for Reaction Video and type in bands and performers to find just about anything. We've enjoyed the break lately from the current events news.
