General Michael Flynn came into the White House with Donald Trump and was an early target of the Obama/Clinton stay behind network. Flynn wanted to work with Russia to defeat Obama's ISIS fighters in Afghanistan.

So the FBI set up an illegal sting operation, gave Flynn the runaround, and Trump fired him so he could get on with business.

And now the Flynn story is back in the news. New documents show the illegality of what the Obamanistas did. The conservative website Gateway Pundit is following the story pretty closely:

It begins with his demotion of the HHS inspector general who exposed continued equipment and testing shortages in the U.S. It goes on to remind us that a month ago Trump fired Michael Atkinson, the intelligence IG who brought the Ukraine whistleblower, whom even the Republicans in the Senate admit was telling the truth about a violation of the law, to the attention of Congress. Dear Leader also announced plans to put a White House aide in charge of the IG for the pandemic business rescue fund. At about the same time, he removed the IG for the Defense Department because fellow IGs had selected him to oversee the coronavirus relief fund of $2 trillion. That is to say, Trump would not tolerate someone selected for independence and effectiveness. Both are a threat to His Arbitrariness. (Which is to say, to his corruption, as we learned in the Ukraine affair).

It also mentions the Barr signing statement promising to ignore some of the measures of Congressional oversight of the CARES act, claiming "impermissible forms of congressional aggrandizement." Checks and balances? Not while We are in the White House! (But you can bet that Republicans will become believers again when they lose power. Same for deficits - those will suddenly become the devil again.)

Grassley, Collins and Romney are playing Good Cop, taking a stand for accountability. But the White House is ignoring them.

Trump voters tend to vote on how they feel about his populism. And that is their right. But keeping a Republic requires more insight than that. You get to keep a Republic if you back it in making choices that will keep society functioning. And we currently have an Admiinistration that doesn't care. As long as the Billionaires get what they want, it doesn't care about anything else. Power means never having to say you're sorry.

John Ratcliffe, nominated by the Trump Administration to be director of national intelligence (for the second time - the first time the Republicans questioned his partisanship, lack of experience with intelligence matters, and misleading resume) said yesterday in Senate hearings that
"You have my commitment to deliver timely, accurate and objective intelligence, and to speak truth to power, be that with Congress or within the administration."
"Let me be very clear. Regardless of what anyone wants our intelligence to reflect, the intelligence I will provide, if confirmed, will not be impacted or altered as a result of outside influence."

HAHAHAHA HA HA Ha! Does anyone believe a word of that? Well, good, there are tattoo parlors now open in Georgia who will be happy to tattoo "Sucker!" on your forehead.

His words are as truthful as Kavanaugh's declaration that Roe v Wade is settled law, and as Dear Leader's oath to uphold the Constitution.

America's intelligence agencies attempted to undo the election of a president. Hillary Clinton and John McCain were also involved in the coup, and probably Obama. He wanted to be kept informed according to evidence. Everything is now in place to bring charges, so we shall see. I doubt that anything will happen because our Attorney General is a longtime Washingtonian. He goes back to the Bush 1 days. But it would be a good idea to fairly try and execute Comey and Brennan, so that the swamp creatures in Washington are reminded of the possible cost of their treasons.

Not just illegal but sooo illegal—according to a former CIA analyst, now a political pundit, who made his comments on the "Fox and Friends" entertainment segment of Fox TV.

Yeah, sorry, I'll go with constitutional law experts.

There might be legitimate arguments that Comey and others were misguided or or overtly political or even unlawful, but to post this tripe from Fox & Friends does not make a a very convincing case.

Neither is it relevant that the former CIA analyst is a registered Democrat. Do we get special compensation when we jump political lines? Is a former White Sox fan a better Red Sox fan when he converts? Is Christian dogma somehow more credible when an atheist finds God? For every instance of conversion, you'll find another where the conversion went the other way. It proves nothing except that people are groupish, and the reasons for joining one group over another are often capricious and irrational.

I think in this case sensationalism isn't the right word and "sloppy reporting" at this level of journalism is better left for high school journalism clubs run by adolescents who likely have better editors QC'ing the legitimacy of their publications to the student body.
