So the death data points keep being publicized without (or can't) contextual data that is either in the works or simply unknown at the time because of issues like the lack of testing available at the moment or declensions not to test people that show symptoms possibly COVET 19 related but do not require hospitalization.

N = the number of unknown carriers (probably in the 100Ks ranage) that are A-symptomatic /mildly symptomatic and experience a full recovery.

Suddenly it looks less like the end of the world.

But of course that's not sensational enough to emphasize in the headlines.

Not saying we should't be practicing an abundance of caution. And I'm for mandatory self quarantines..
But this has turned into hysteria.

Ruh-roh it appears President Trump made a detailed study :? of the voluminous data provided by Aaron Ginn and may be deciding to relax restrictions.
Administration officials, anxious to get the country back to business, have grown increasingly concerned in recent days about the devastating economic impact the tight restrictions on movement and social interactions are having. These officials said they worry that the White House went too far in allowing public health experts to set policy and that their actions did not need to be so draconian.

...There is hope that the expiration next Monday (3/30/20) of the administration’s "15 Days to Slow the Spread" guidelines, which urge people to stay at home if they are older, feeling sick or who have been in contact with someone infected, could serve as a light at the end of the tunnel and possible pivot point to restart the economy. Trump’s frustrations spilled into public overnight, tweeting, in all caps that “WE CANNOT LET THE CURSE BE WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM ITSELF. AT THE END OF THE 15 DAY PERIOD, WE WILL MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHICH WAY WE WANT TO GO.”

If I was the Governor of Ca I would restrict gatherings to no more than two people and shut everything down (minus food stuff and pharmacies ) for 2 weeks. Arrest severe non complaints or at the very least cite them on the spot

You should see sections of LA... a bunch of dumb bastards totally ignoring the current social distance guidelinees.

Um...didn't you just say this has turned into hysteria? Now you're advocating arresting non-compliants! :P
Not that I totally disagree with the latter. But without enough data, we're surfing blindly into a tsunami. That's why wide-scale brute force methods are used more than efforts focused on suppressing infections.

Here's a detailed article stating how the virus can be stopped, but Americans are not quite ready to take many of these actions.
Terrifying though the coronavirus may be, it can be turned back. China, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan have demonstrated that, with furious efforts, the contagion can be brought to heel. Whether they can keep it suppressed remains to be seen. But for the United States to repeat their successes will take extraordinary levels of coordination and money from the country’s leaders, and extraordinary levels of trust and cooperation from citizens. It will also require international partnerships in an interconnected world.

There is a chance to stop the coronavirus. This contagion has a weakness.

The spreading of unsubstantiated and or no context data by the news is hysteria

The enforcement of LAW is not hysteria

https://www.statnews.com/2020/03/17/a-f ... able-data/

The data collected so far on how many people are infected and how the epidemic is evolving are utterly unreliable. Given the limited testing to date, some deaths and probably the vast majority of infections due to SARS-CoV-2 are being missed. We don’t know if we are failing to capture infections by a factor of three or 300. Three months after the outbreak emerged, most countries, including the U.S., lack the ability to test a large number of people and no countries have reliable data on the prevalence of the virus in a representative random sample of the general population.

Tonight we began drinking tonic water. It contains quinine, an anti-malarial.

The South Korean model for handling the outbreak seems to be the best so far. Quarantine those infected and let everyday life go on fairly unrestricted elsewhere.

The flu is devastating the elderly, as all flus do do. That's to be expected. Men are twice as likely to die from the ChiCom Flu, and that stumped doctors for a while, but now they believe it's on account of smoking. Men are more likely to smoke than women (2 to 1), and the damage done to the lungs makes them less able to deal with the virus. Good luck if you're an elderly smoker living in a crowded city.

It's sad what's happening in America. The leftist media here has churned up a maximum amount of fear. A couple thousand people have died from the ChiCom Flu, so we're supposed to sit cowering in closets for months? We have tens of thousands die every year from seasonal flu, but where's the media fear campaign while that's going on? It's true that this is a new and novel virus, but it will morph and pass on. The media hype seems to be an attempt to shut down the American economy. The media called Trump a racist for implementing a ban on flights from China, and now they're accusing him of dereliction for not imposing travel bans within the US. I think the public sees what's going on. China has established its state-run media in the US.

Because they didn't have a retard in chief who pretended this would go away like magic. They didn't dissolve their pandemic task force in 2018 like Trump did here. It's impossible for us to do what S. Korea did, because we have no test kits. This is a failure of leadership that will cost countless lives.

Trump quotes:
Jan22: "We have it totally under control. It's one person coming in from China."
Feb25: "I think that it's a problem that's going to go away. They have studied it. They know very much. In fact, we're very close to a vaccine."
Feb27: "One day, it's like a miracle. It will dissappear."
Mar6: " Anybody right now, and yesterday, anybody that needs a test gets a test. And the tests are beautiful."
Mar10: "It will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away."
Mar13: Trump declares National Emergency.

It's not the media you jack-face. Check the statistics. Depending on the 24 hour period you cite, 3000 people died yesterday from Covid around the world. Yesterday. In a single day, while we're still toward the bottom of the bell curve. And the curve is going straight vertical. We've got nothing to worry about as long as we don't dismiss this with arrogant nonchalance. Be clinical, look at the numbers. Think about it.

I keep thinking the one silver lining of this pandemic is that it exposes the stupidity of people like yourself. It will bring to light the fact that "fake news" isn't the mainstream media, but instead deepstream media and social media that you gobble up. You're not a finder of truth KS, you're a fool.

He is a racist, but that's not the point. I mean, aren't you as well? Calling it the ChiCom flu? Show us where the media called him racist for shutting down flights to China. I think you're making it up. He made that move based on the uniform recommendation of his health advisors. It wasn't his idea.
