It might be wise for Democrats in the House to keep the motor running....with the pres. now unleashed, you don't know what else he might get up to that would merit putting impeachment in gear again--regardless of election year.

Republicans might soon reap what they've sown. If Trump loses in November, and when (not if) the Republicans demand documents or testimony about a perceived presidential abuse, can they have a realistic expectation of getting that? Trump's clever counsel, Patrick Philbin, smothered the hearing with legalese he claimed showed that there was not a blanket refusal to provide documents and witnesses. I doubt anyone found that compelling. As one senator said, it's not only impeachment that has been rendered void by Republican endorsement of the Executive's right to refuse to cooperate, but normal oversight as well.

Republican cravenness just hit an all-time high. Yes, the call was perfect! Oh, I forgot--a couple of brave senators did label what Trump did as "inappropriate."

The modern Democratic party in America has been utterly annihilated. The leftist mainstream news propagandists will try to make you think that there's still some life in the party, but it ain't so.

The illegal impeachment coup against Trump failed. The Senate voted to acquit. It had no choice, as no real charges had been filed. Trump was being tried because he won the election in 2016. He won it again with the acquittal.

And his latest State of the Union speech may have been the greatest ever delivered by a president. Not the most substantive, but the greatest presentation. I just finished watching it through. It is grand theater, a remarkable achievement in speech writing and staging.

And then there's the Iowa caucus. Once again the Dems are trying to steal the nomination from Bernie Sanders. Everybody knows it. A simple caucus in one of the smaller states, and they couldn't tally the vote? The computer app blamed for the fiasco was developed by a Clintonista. The Dems will have to pry the Democratic National Committee out of Hillary Clinton's cold, dead hand.

duckduckgo.com/?q=iowa+caucus+app+clint ... mp;ia=news

There's a good chance that Clinton will once again be the nominee. Maybe that's why she's been dosing herself with Botox lately:

Image

And Nancy Pelosi committed a crime when she tore up her copy of Trump's State of the Union speech. He was required by law to give it to her, which he did, making it an official government document.

18 USC 2071

(a) Whoever willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, or destroys, or attempts to do so, or, with intent to do so takes and carries away any record, proceeding, map, book, paper, document, or other thing, filed or deposited with any clerk or officer of any court of the United States, or in any public office, or with any judicial or public officer of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

(b) Whoever, having the custody of any such record, proceeding, map, book, document, paper, or other thing, willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, falsifies, or destroys the same, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both; and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States. As used in this subsection, the term “office” does not include the office held by any person as a retired officer of the Armed Forces of the United States.

And now that the impeachment is over, the Senate is requesting documents about the Bidens from the Secret Service. It just gets better and better.

Here's what Donald Trump's reset looks like so far, in the words of Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank.

Trump Learned His Lesson. He’s Going to Be Even More Vulgar.

By
Dana Milbank
Columnist
Feb. 6, 2020 at 7:57 p.m. EST

“You can’t trust this president to do the right thing,” lead House manager Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said this week in his final plea before the Senate’s impeachment vote. “He will not change, and you know it.”

But even Schiff couldn’t have known how quickly President Trump would prove these words true.

The morning after his acquittal in the Senate, Trump attended the National Prayer Breakfast, where political opponents have always set aside their differences. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) urged the assembled to “raise our voices in prayer as one.” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) prayed for his colleagues, including Pelosi, and said God couldn’t have “picked a better day to bring us all together.

And then there was Trump. He complained that he was “put through a terrible ordeal by some very dishonest and corrupt people.”

Referring to Mitt Romney, the lone Republican to support impeachment, Trump said, “I don’t like people who use their faith as justification for doing what they know is wrong.” Referring to Pelosi, just a few feet away, he added: “Nor do I like people who say, ‘I pray for you’ when they know that’s not so.”

Deriding expressions of faith at the prayer breakfast? Trump had a couple of hours to think about whether he was doing “the right thing” — and he decided he was!

He gathered Republican lawmakers in the East Room of the White House, the chamber where Abraham Lincoln met Ulysses S. Grant and where John F. Kennedy and six other presidents lay in state. There, Trump renewed his mockery of the faith of Romney and Pelosi.

“I had Nancy Pelosi sitting four seats away, and I’m saying things that a lot of people wouldn’t have said, but I meant every word of it,” he said, calling her “a horrible person” and again deriding her for saying she prays for Trump. “She doesn’t pray. She may pray, but she prays for the opposite. But I doubt she prays at all.”

The Republicans laughed.

And Romney? “You have some that used religion as a crutch. They never used it before,” he said of the devout Mormon. Trump derided the 2012 Republican nominee as “a failed presidential candidate.” He said to tell the people of Utah that “I’m sorry about Mitt Romney.”

The Republicans applauded.

He will not change.

He described his political opponents and government bureaucrats as “bad,” “dirty,” “horrible,” “evil,” “sick,” “corrupt,” “scum,” “leakers,” “liars,” “vicious,” “mean,” “lowlifes,” “non-people,” “stone-cold crazy” and “the crookedest, most dishonest, dirtiest people I’ve ever seen.”

In what was billed as an address to the nation, Trump declared to every American man, woman and child: “It was all bullshit.”

The Republicans laughed.

He will not change.

Given license to be licentious, he sprinkled in several more forms of coarse speech. Of the former FBI director and deputy attorney general in the George W. Bush administration, he said: “When I fired that sleazebag, all hell broke out.”

He will not change.

He attacked the federal courts that review national security cases: “The FISA [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] courts should be ashamed of themselves.” He veered into fantasy, saying of the shooting at a congressional baseball practice, “I saw the whole thing,” — though he most certainly had not. He detoured into the bizarre, saying “a lot of wives wouldn’t give a damn” if their husbands were shot and on the verge of death.

It was, in sum, a thorough repudiation of Republican Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Lamar Alexander (Tenn.), Joni Ernst (Iowa) and others who claimed that Trump had learned his lesson, that he had somehow grown because of the impeachment experience.

“We went through hell, unfairly, did nothing wrong — did nothing wrong,” Trump proclaimed in the East Room. He added: “That was a totally appropriate call. I call it a perfect call, because it was.” Those who “need” to claim otherwise are “totally incorrect,” he said.

In Trump’s account, his Republican allies are “warriors” for him, “in battle and war” against “dirty cops,” the “FBI lovers” and “fake dossiers.” He praised Sen. Chuck Grassley (Iowa) because he “got James Comey to choke.” He praised Sen. Kelly Loeffler (Ga.) for being “downright nasty and mean” in his defense.

And he praised himself — because he had “one of the greatest wins of all time,” because he “topped” Andrew Jackson for running in the “nastiest” campaign, and because the GOP is more spirited under him than under Lincoln.

He made up words. He made up facts. He talked about a Yankee second-baseman from the 1950s. He said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is “very proud of his body.” He said Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-Ariz.) got her job because “I liked the name Lesko.”

No, he will not change.

After an hour, Trump invited others to speak.

“We’ve got your back,” offered Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.)

The Republicans applauded.

They will not change, either.

I'm glad they are investigating. It will turn out like Benghazi - no wrong-doing. Oh, fine, let them embarrass Biden and the Democrats. Nothing will come of it. These elites don't have to manipulate anything or use any undue influence. Just understanding how things work is the ticket to megabucks.

That's the same way it works for sitting on corporate boards and signing up with K Street law firms (aka lobbyists). Nobody understands better than Republicans how to play the game, and how to use the Dems claim of the moral high ground against any of them who step off it. But all those claims of wasting money on investigations? Just an attempt to deflect attention from their own shenanigans. Nobody does investigative overkill like a Republican who thinks somebody can be smeared by it.

Well, they will, but it may take 40 years. In 20 years Texas will be a blue state. In 10 years climate damage will be severe enough that environmentalism will swing voters the way coverage for pre-existing conditions already has. So the real question is how long Rupert and the Billionaires can keep singing their song and having enough people sway to it. It appears it can go on for quite some time, but as the underlying economy keeps eroding and gigging and outsourcing, ordinary white people will only prefer to blame people of color for presuming to be uppity for so long before they have to take a hard look at what forces are moving below the surface.

If the cabal chooses to go down the road of authoritarian rule, they will lose the independent part of the public pretty quick. If they don't, they will gradually lose their fingerholds on power, and since that is the only force animating this zombie party, the party will change or die. All the Democrats have to do is stick to their principles and keep pointing out the facts. Facts have a funny way of persisting despite the best efforts of the Liar Kings.

There are several serious issues dragging through the courts, including Trump's attempt to suborn the White House counsel to lie for him. I don't think another impeachment is in the cards for this year, unless Dear Leader is even more reckless than he appears. But since he compulsively opposes the rule of law, you can bet that a re-election will lead to a re-impeachment. He can't help himself.

Article just published in The Atlantic on The 2020 Disinformation War https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/ar ... ar/605530/

This is an incredibly disturbing explanation of how the Trump campaign is using massive resources to micro-target carefully developed psychological smears and lies in order to steal the 2020 election. Russian autocracy has provided the template for the mass disinformation campaign planned to re-elect Trump. The construction of a fantasy universe on such a scale as Trump is conducting has parallels only with Big Lies such as Hitler's blaming of the Jews. The biggest danger today is that a snapping of the fragile climate stability of nature will lead to sudden war and collapse. Diagnosing problems is essential to solving them.

Spooky piece. In addition to the subterfuges described in the article, we'll probably see a clampdown on information sharing just before the election. The intelligence community has tried (unsuccessfully) to scrub the internet of independent voices like Alex Jones', so I expect things like "hack attacks" and "viruses" will target various people and groups.

But on a positive note, it looks as if Trump's countercoup is gaining speed.

During the Russiagate lie, a man named Roger Stone was tried and convicted for thought crimes. Trump's Dept of Justice has now weighed in on the case, and the communist prosecutors resigned en masse. They know that their persecution, I mean prosecution, of Stone was illegal, so they're scattering.

Trump is beginning to fire Obamanoids from the security state, and it's about time.

In his second term Trump will, hopefully, instruct our atty general to investigate the Russiagate scandal. It was the greatest domestic crime ever committed by a sitting US president (Obama). One of the people who will be brought to justice is John Brennan. He reportedly converted to Islam some time ago, so that would explain why he was a favorite of Hussein Obama. Brennan was behind both Russiagate and Ukrainegate. Neither jihad worked out for him. If there's justice in the world then we may soon have the pleasure of seeing him led away to the stripy hole.

Interesting broadcast as far as I listened--11-12 minutes. The channel is a supporter of "Q," whom I suspect is a construct of the CIA. Q promises constantly that Trump's enemies are about to be vanquished, that Hussein Obama is slated to be arrested, and so on. The promises never pan out, but they appease, and appeasement usually results in inaction. Q is a psyop. But now it seems that he's not even needed in the fight to destroy America's globalists. They're destroying themselves.

Something to cling to, for Obama haters finally forced to drop the birtherism charge, is that Obama is a Muslim. That is a bigoted charge in itself, but believers would tell you that the former president is a Wahhabist as well, not just a garden-variety Muslim. Because he was indoctrinated in Islam while a boy in Indonesia, just as children are indoctrinated in the Christian faith, he is a Muslim, died in the wool, so it is claimed. All of his names sound Muslim, after all, so there you have it. General Omar Bradley must have been Muslim, too. Being conversant with Islam to this day, Obama is held to be an apostate, his membership in a Christian Church until 2008 and his occasional attendance since then, simply a smokescreen. We have to suppose, also, that he ramped up drone strikes in Muslim countries as soon as becoming president in order to disguise his strong Muslim sympathies.

It is still hazardous for American politicians to have certain ethnic heritages, or to display an ecumenical acquaintance with other religious traditions.

Thought crimes? That's funny. I thought it was five counts of lying to Congress, one count of witness tampering and one count of obstruction of a proceeding.

But since we're conjuring Orwell:
