Post Please help me find this short story-- Desperate!!!
Do you know the name or author of this short story: I think it’s set in Eastern Europe or maybe Russia. It starts with two men meeting at a soiree at an aristocrat's house. They then decide to take a walk to some location despite the late hour and snow. I think that one of them is jealous of the other or something like that. I think the title was something like “a walk to the _______”

The blank may be something like a monument or a river. Do you have any clue what it may be??

Thanks in advance!

Sounds Kafka-esque.

If they used the word "soirée" I'd say it was in Russia rather than Eastern Europe. Russian aristocracy spoke French in the 19th century.
