Post Is Civil War coming to America?
The USA has never fought a civil war. 1861-1865 was a war of secession--one part of the union wanted to break away from the other--but civil wars are fought for control of the government. I'm not sure but America could be heading for that now.

The trigger may have been the firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions the day after the mid-term elections. The Leftists in America were surprised to lose the White House to Trump two years ago, but until now they’ve tolerated the situation. They were tolerant because Sessions was a do-nothing attorney general. As soon as he took office he recused himself from “Russiagate,” and then he said that virtually everything was related to Russiagate. So the criminals from the Obama administration have gone uncharged and untried.

But now Sessions is gone and his replacement, Matt Whitaker, is no friend to the Obama cabal. He may end their fruitless Mueller investigation and move to charge Hillary Clinton for one or more of her many crimes. Clinton will certainly take Obama down with her.

So what’s an America-hating ex president to do? Obama and former Attorney General Eric Holder left a stay-behind network of simpatico bureaucrats and politicians in Washington. They also created an army of racist activist groups. The cabal’s facing prison time or worse for the crimes it committed, so I expect we’ll see it fight to the last drop of blood from the last Social Justice Warrior.

Whatever Obama is going to do, he’d better do it fast. Elderly Supreme Court justice Ginsberg fell and broke some bones last night, so she’s probably not long for the court. Which means Trump gets to appoint another conservative judge. Which means a 6-3 ruling against Obama’s appeal on charges of treason.

Yes it's coming, and it will be like nothing we have seen before. It will be liberal vs. conservative, black vs. white, urban vs. rural, rich vs. poor. There will be no geographical boundaries to limit it. And when it is over??? I am only glad I am too old to see such an end to a country I love.

Well, acutally, I'm not sure myself, but I do fear for this country's future.

Americans would not have either the stomach or intestinal fortitude for a real civil war. The civil war is being fought in cyber space - Twitter and Facebook.
This nation also has some of the most uninformed, dumb downed, politically unsophisticated people in the world.

But this is what happens in a large, multicultural nation that loses it's religion and replaces it with politics.

No one can convince me that religion is even close to being replaced by a more "rational" belief system.

The more secular the US becomes the crazier politics becomes.

You say a lot of vile and stupid things, but this is indefensible. Obama loves America every bit as much as you do, probably a lot more.

There is no civil war coming. If the NRA cared about its credibility, that would probably disappoint them, but they are not making predictions, they are just "riling up the base." There will be no prosecution of the officials of the previous administration for the simple reason that there were no crimes. Courts, unlike people on the internet, require evidence.

We are going to have to settle into a long slog of opposition between rural and small-town America, which is suffering economically these days, and urban America, which is where the new jobs are mostly being created. Undoubtedly there will be sniping, but from time to time there will actually be problems solved, as well.

I predict that some of this will involve the majority buying off the rural minority, with compensation like what should have been made for the effects of NAFTA and Chinese accession to the WTO. For example, when we finally get a carbon tax on fossil fuels, it will probably be revenue neutral due to tax rebates, but I predict rural folks, who need to drive more, will get special consideration for their hardship. (As a result, many hippies on their communes will get money from the government for living in the countryside, and they can keep it since they don't need to put it in the gas tank of a car.) That isn't standard economics, but with the climate at stake, we will find a way.

One serious question is how to compensate coal country, especially West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky, for the loss of jobs. Ideas welcome.

Because Christianity is rational? LOL.

Does Christianity Harm Children?
We need to talk more openly about the abusive aspects of Christian theology

Christianity teaches children that God killed his own child to make up for our wickedness. In other words, we are evil, and by killing his own child, our evil is somehow wiped away and forgiven. Our guilt is cleansed. But how does that work? If I abuse my wife, and then a cop comes over and kills my son, does that atone for the wickedness I committed against my wife? How so? Only I can atone for my own wrongdoings and harmful actions. If I abuse my wife, I need to make amends in order to earn her forgiveness. I can’t kill our cat instead. And besides, why couldn’t God forgive us without killing his son? Does he require a blood sacrifice, like some pagan ogre? The entire story of Jesus “dying for our sins” makes no moral or ethical sense, and it is an extremely confusing/disturbing tale to tell our children.

We have some serious civil problems, but we're nowhere close to civil war. Look at evidence from hundreds of communities, as James and Deborah Fallows have done, and you can put together an entirely more optimistic picture of our society. Factionalism has taken over our national politics, true, to a degree that would horrify the makers of the Constitution, but it's not the case that Antifa antics, white nationalist marches, ugly Trump rallies, and of course online hate-fests, typify us.
