 Logo design contest starting soon!
As many of you know we're starting the process of updating the forum theme to be mobile-friendly. It will take a few weeks but the forums and entire site will look very different. This should really help our search engine rankings and of course it will make BookTalk.org enjoyable and usable on cell phones and other mobile devices.

Part of changing the overall design of the site is to change colors. I'm personally wanting to get away from this drab green color and move towards something a bit more upbeat and colorful. I want people to have a positive happy feeling when on BookTalk.org.

I'm about to start a logo design contest but this won't happen on our forums. I'm using actual logo design services. We'll run a contest for a few weeks where dozens of people can submit their logo designs.

So new colors, new design, new logo and mobile-friendly.

I personally love this color scheme but several people have told me it is obnoxious. I'm open to suggestions.

In my humble opinion, the layout and those colors look good. Some people say that a dark background with light lettering is easier on the eyes...fewer photons blasting out at us from the screen. Don't know how that works on smaller devices though. Light background / dark lettering might be best for that. But these samples look good.

Thank you! I'm hoping to have a dark version and a light version of the theme. I'd like people to have a toggle switch so they can decide which they like better. And their taste could change depending on the time of day. When I surf the web in bed I prefer a darker theme so the bright light doesn't blind me. During the day I tend to gravitate towards a lighter background. Hopefully we can offer both light and dark.

I'm glad you said you like the above colors because I really love them.
