I used War of the Worlds as a template for a fictional piece on climate change. It is an excellent parable for the fragility of existence.

Looks like Wells in the man. I have read both "The Time Machine" and "The War of the Worlds" (neither recently). Unfortunately, I probably will not be able to join in a discussion of either, since it looks like I will be moving (again).
