Post Re: Christian Movie Reviews (Theater)
The 15:17 to Paris

Overall I liked this movie. Even though there were a few flash-forwards of the impending attack, it was mainly contained towards the end of the movie and unfortunately included gory scenes. The beginning of the movie showed the three boys wrestling and playing war together, which foreshadowed them going into the military as young adults. They attended a Christian school but were always in trouble together, which foreshadowed their Christian faith as adults and their bonding as friends. While they were in the military, two of the friends sensed they were going to do something great but had no idea what. They were not happy with their lot in the military because of screwing up (just like when they were kids). All of this along with their military training prepared the three to subdue the terrorist on the train. It was inspiring to watch how the three friends, more than once during their European vacation together, almost decided not to go to Paris. Then, when they boarded the train to Paris, they were in the wrong car - and they headed to the right car at the perfect time to thwart the attack. This is exactly how the Lord works so we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it's Him calling the shots, not us!

Samson

This movie did not follow scripture exactly, and there was some comedy, unrealistic scenes, as well as violence throughout the whole movie. Samson knew he had a calling on his life from his conception but struggled to be the man God created him to be. He had a pet sin which distracted him from his calling. I like how he prayed for strength before going into battle every time - he didn't just assume God would favor him. This movie portrayed the pure unadulterated hatred the Philistines had for the Hebrews, and how in the end, Samson fulfilled his purpose.
