A vicious gunman (or perhaps woman) is systematically killing people who write letters to the editor of the Garrison Sun-Messenger. Mark Ingle, a newly minted detective after 12 years as a beat cop, catches the case. As the body count rises, he fears he is in over his head so he reluctantly enlists help from Ben Cromwell, an editor at the Sun-Messenger, and Tommy Boyd, a veteran detective currently suspended for using unusual interrogation tactics. Faced with a growing list of suspects, the odd-couple-plus-one head out on different paths to identify the killer and stop the bloodshed. Matters rush to a climax when, late one night in his office, Ben is confronted by the killer. A tense struggle ensues, and the killer is subdued. After his arrest, the killer reveals a bizarre scheme involving sex, abortion, blackmail and murder.

What the hell is a "qualified reviewer?" the term you use.
