Neil deGrasse Tyson believes it's highly likely we live in a simulation

Unread post

This celebrity scientist is attempting to sell his personal metaphysical beliefs as science to the public.
Not only is it ludicrous of him to do so, it also essentially concedes to a belief in intelligent design, which of course is antithetical to an unguided, totally blind, natural explanation of Reality.
Nature is a closed system. If you open it up to metaphysical realms for the sake of explanation then you absolutely cease practicing science. You disgard it for a more satisfying method of explanation.
This is the crux of Tyson’s point: if we take it as read that it is, in principle, possible to simulate a universe in some way, at some point in the future, then we have to assume that on an infinite timeline some species, somewhere, will simulate the universe. And if the universe will be perfectly, or near-perfectly, simulated at some point, then we have to examine the possibility that we live inside such a universe. And, on a truly infinite timeline, we might expect an almost infinite number of simulations to arise from an almost infinite number or civilizations — and indeed, a sophisticated-enough simulation might be able to let its simulated denizens themselves run universal simulations, and at that point all bets are officially off.

This is correct: if Tyson's unscientific metaphysical speculations are correct, all bets are off.
Anything goes. The universes becomes one of countlese universes that may very well have somehow produced a god or gods becuase within eternity, anything not only might happen but undoubtedly WILL happen.
Thine will be done.

Im wondering if this aligns with a scientific worldview like Johnson's.
This is a metaphysical worldview and It is highly unscientific.

Tyson is completely nuts.

Tyson's nut, everybody, ant said so. Stay tuned to this thread for other profound judgments of other people's mental states by a guy who believes a fairy tale is real.

Those are some profound thoughts there, Roy.

Ready for me to take you out for your evening walk and lawn poop?

NDT has a metaphysical worldview, doesn't he, Johnson?
