enjoying ch.5

i find myself collecting the frequent "condensed highlight" type lines that abound... eg.
Sometimes we just have to live with unanswered questions.
we are all capable of having profound, realistic, exciting, scary, even life-changing experiences within the confines of our skull. These events may feel real in every way— without actually being real.
We like to think that “seeing is believing,” but often it is the exact opposite: believing is seeing. Much of what we “see” and how we make sense of the world around us is shaped by our past experiences and current beliefs.

that one reminded me of the album "Hallucination Engine"

this next quote struck as a kind of summing up, a quintessence if you will
I'm still open to the possibility that someone was on the island, shouted my name that night, and then slipped away out to sea. But the more reasonable explanation is that it was all in my head.
