I too was around for this decision. It seemed then and seems now the best way to avoid the problems both pc and Chris have mentioned. I am sure that Chris' comments about members needing to vote were not directed at new members since he is aware of the rule he made. If you are new to booktalk and would like to participate in book discussions, please post and attend chats so that we know you are planning on sticking around. New members make the discussions more interesting! Hang in there till you've met the quota. There is always the next book...

I'm going to close the poll now and post the results...Results (total votes = 12): Next of Kin - by Roger Fouts, Stephen Tukel Mills 4 / 33.3% 1. amd20032. tarav3. Jeremy 4. VOTE DOESN'T COUNT - no name posted The Future of Life - by Edward O. Wilson 4 / 33.3% Chris O'ConnorY2BabelSunSprite86Interbane So Many Books - by Gabriel Zaid, Natasha Wimmer 4 / 33.3% 1. misterpessimistic2. pctacitus3. Sakis Totlis4. VOTE DOESN'T COUNT - no name posted Final results are that The Future of Life, by Edward O. Wilson, has won by one vote with a total of 4 votes. If you voted for either of the two books that didn't win and you forgot to provide your name please let me know. We MUST know the names of each voter, or people visiting from other EZBoard communities can take our book selection polls. This is a tight poll and I don't know how best to resolve this one. My current mindset is to do Future of Life this time and then add both of the other two on the January & February book poll. Future of Life also received a 5th "endorsement" from Niall, but he indicated that he might not be able to participate.Any comments? Please post them in the below thread entitled, "Discussion of Noc/Dec poll." I have to close this poll right now so other people don't cast votes.
