Exactly. But... maybe their point was something like.. "no one is impossible to change unless he wants to change himself". He's just felt in love with this naive schoolgirl, and he is ready to do everything she tells. Lol. So, it's not about a professional psychological help (I suppose, he did not want to change when he visited that doctor or whoever he was). Well, just a theory :-) Girls love such stories: a young, handsome millionaire falls in love with them, ordinary and naive ladies, and what is more! - he changes thanks to them! Wow! :P (sarcasm)

P.S. I haven't read all those three books, but I predicted the end like this after watching the movie. Happy end, he changes for her, everyone is happy, blah-blah-blah :appl:

I certainly have no objections quite the contrary but I'm probably not likely to post much in it myself, although I could be wrong.

I suppose the only way to find out is to give it a whirl.

Not sure erotica means the same thing to men and women. Not sure it can be discussed in the same space. I think some people (mostly men) would say raw and vulgar things and that is not the way I think of erotica. For me it's mostly connected to feelings of love or, at least, caring. I think I would probably not participate.

Use this discussion as an example. I voiced a simple critique of a movie, and in a few paragraphs the discussion went to "cattle prodding" and "tasering". Erotica is not necessarily porn. Just my opinion, of course. :)

...and a very helpful opinion it is.

I think you have a point there :)

The taser quip was well out of line and I am ashamed that my sense of humour betrayed my complete lack of sensitivity

We discussed fifty shades (the book) in a thread a while back and as I recall it was noticed that the writing was so poor none of us were that into it, and some of us simply could not read it.

hahahaha thanks for that image which I now cannot get rid of

I've not seen the movie, and have no desire to do so since being beaten and sodomised for a man's pleasure doesn't titillate me in the slightest. I've not read the books either, apart from scanning a couple of pages of a copy I saw in a house I was cleaning once. I used to work for a cleaning company and the folks in this house I cleaned each week bought the books. After 2 pages of "oh my" I got bored and went back to my hoover and duster.

Every time this subject comes up (no pun intended) everyone seems to agree that the books were terribly written. This just goes to show that we're wasting our time worrying too much about the finer grammatical points of our work.

From what I've understood, the movie was a toned down version of the book, and while the book focuses more on the BDSM stuff, the movie was more romantic.
