"Dutch researchers have estimated that there are FIVE TRILLION spiders in The Netherlands alone, each of which consumes about one-tenth of a gram of meat per day. Were there victims people instead of insects, they would require only three days to eat all six-and-a-half million Dutchmen."

The bigger point to take is that without spiders, we would be so completely overrun by insects within a few weeks time that we would be drowning in them.

I was thinking of applying your statistic to rats in New York--how long would it take spiders to eat them all if they were insects (no more than a day) when I ran across this strange bit of info:

"A survey conducted by Columbia University in 2014 recorded the DNA of 133 rats throughout the city. The results showed the rats carried numerous pathogens, including some never before seen in New York and some completely unknown to science."
