BoneMan's Daughters by Ted Dekker

Unread post

This is my first time reading Dekker's work. A friend suggested his stuff to me, though the friend made it sound like Dekker was more of a horror writer than someone who writes thrillers or suspense. The book reminds of the works of Dean Koontz. It has elements of horror but relies more on mystery, suspense, and genuine thrills to advance the plot.

Dekker's hero, protagonist Ryan Evans, is likable and sympathetic. You understand his pain, share his regrets, and even if you're not a parent, you can understand the love he has for his daughter. In many ways, this is a story about a father who's willing to do anything to prove his love for his little girl. I don't want to give too much away but I'm more than halfway through the book and I will definitely check out more titles from Ted Dekker in the future.

I also recently read Burnt Tongues, a collection of transgressive fiction edited by Chuck Palahniuk. And I also read Rage and Dead Zone by Stephen King, The Troop by Nick Cutter. For fans of horror (especially old school horror), I'd definitely recommend giving The Troop a try. It's absolutely terrifying.
