Official Poll to select a Non-Fiction Book for June, July & August 2014
Poll Rules...
Please only vote if you actually plan to participate in the book discussion if your chosen book wins this poll!
You can vote for more than one book. In fact please do! Vote for as many of the books found on this poll that you would like to read and discuss. Vote for all 4 if you are OK with reading and discussing any of them. The more votes the easier it is to select a winning book.
You can change your vote at any time up until the poll closes.
After casting your vote please feel free to make posts in this thread stating your opinion on the various poll choices. There is nothing wrong with trying to influence other people in their vote as long as everyone that votes actually plans to participate in the book discussion.
There isn't an official end date for this poll. We'll end it when we have a clear winner.
Here are our 4 poll choices...
Book 1: Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War
by Robert M Gates
Book 2: Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption
by Laura Hillenbrand
Book 3: God Is Not One: The Eight Rival Religions That Run the World
by Stephen Prothero
Book 4: The Big Questions: Philosophy
by Simon Blackburn

Bestselling author Simon Blackburn tackles the key questions in philosophy—and provides easy-to-understand and enlightening answers.
In Big Questions: Philosophy, bestselling author Simon Blackburn addresses the 20 essential questions:
What is the meaning of life? Am I free? Why is there something and not nothing? What do we really know? Is there such a thing as society? Can machines think? What is time? How can I deceive myself? Why be good? What fills up space? Can we truly understand each other? Why do things keep on keeping on? Are we rational? What am I? What are my rights? Is truth relative? Do we need God? What is human nature? What is beauty? Is death to be feared?

Many of these philosophical questions that Blackburn raises have been the subject of debate and discussion on Booktalk. So framing them within how philosophy has analysed and presented them over the centuries provides a useful way to explore the issues. Of these four proposed books, The Big Questions: Philosophy looks easily most likely to produce interesting and informative discussion here.In Big Questions: Philosophy, bestselling author Simon Blackburn addresses the 20 essential questions:

Everyone has voted for "The Big Questions" and I see no reason to keep this poll going without the likelihood of additional votes. So I'll create the forum for this new book tonight.
