Stephenie Meyer Twilight Eclipse

Unread post

I decided to read the books but I wished I would of read the books instead of watching the movies first, which by the way I love the movies but the books are amazing. I read the Twilight Saga 1 and New Moon in one week and I just started reading the Twilight Eclipse. I love how the author wrote these books, I love the love story between Edward and Bella, the fact that he a vampire makes it even better. Once I read all four books can anyone share another good book regarding love and vampires :D

My niece wanted to see Twilight when it first came out so I took her. Same thing happened for the third movie so I quickly rented movie 2 so I wouldn't be lost. At that point, I decided to read a sample of the series. Long story short ... I've read the books twice and like the books better than the movies.

Aren't the books almost always better than the movies? Our imaginations can create scenes better than Hollywood ever could.

So true, since we are not limited by production budgets and commercialism. :D

Personally I thought the Shining by Stanley Kubrick beat the pants off its literary sibling

And a movie's purpose isn't suppose to be a cheap imitation of the novel, it's to bring the novel to life in a different medium, not to copy it word for word. When done right movies can do things that books can't always do. Take this scene for example: the Copacabana shot from Goodfellas:

Goodfellas, based off of the novel Wiseguy. In the novel it tells us what is happening and how easily he goes through security to show how good his life is. In the movie it takes us in along for the ride and shows us just how important he is. Very little dialogue, no description, just good camerawork.

In a novel it would take paragraphs of description to show what the film did with just making it one continuous shot. I just think movies get a bad rep from the "Book was better" crowd when it should be judged on its own terms, and not in comparison to the novel.

But I do agree with you that there are garbage movies that don't hold a candle to the novel.

I'd reccomend that you tried the vampire dairies by L.J Smith. these are very good and what's more: it's also about spirits, demons, loyalty to your friends, betrayl, mystery and reincarnation. But most of all the love between vampire stephan and Elena Gilbert. I got bored after the second book but then i picked them up again a month or so later and was hooked.
Just to say, in the first series the books are two in one.
1+2. 'The awakening' and 'the struggle'
3+4. 'The Fury' and 'The Reunion'
THE RETURN
5. Nightfall
6. Shadow Souls
7. midnight

It could be a bit confusing because once Smith finshed 1+2, 3+4 she felt there should be more so she made a sort of second series of the book called 'The Return'

I also loved the twilight series. Another series I like is the Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward. These book are geared toward an adult reader. Maggie Stiefater writes about wolves and humans (Shiver, Linger and Forever) and Bree Despain, The Dark Divine Series, which my niece turned me onto both.

I have read the entire series. I loved them. I read them before watching the movies. My sister watched the first movie with me and did not read the books and then had to keep asking what was going on. Then she read the series and now loves the movies.
