Chapters 31-36

When Giovanni returns from New Orleans, I think he feels like many of us who are tired of pursuing something that seems always out of reach. Yet, with the words of Alfredo and Anna, his determination is rekindled. These are important chapters as they show how important it is for us to help foster the dreams of others, give words of encouragement, and when that person is at a breaking point, do whatever you can to help them stay the course.

His traveling to Bologna is a byproduct of Alfredo and Anna's words, as his soul is happy once again.

The line in Cielo e Mar from La Gioconda - "Vieni, o donna, vieni al bacio, vieni e dell'amore," shows that background music is alive and well, once again.

Here is Pavarotti singing this aria from his movie, "Yes, Giorgio.

Yes, I thought this was well done, with the inspiration of the singer’s mentor and his mother making Giovanni see that his golden voice is a gift from God and he has a duty to pursue his dream.

To me the serenade of Isabella in Bologna was the most moving scene in the whole book. Chip has created characters whose love for each other is deep and pure and simple and honest.
