Greetings--I recently moved to the Florida panhandle, which is a lovely place but a bit more rural than I'd expected in some ways. For example, the county library system discontinued Inter-Library Loan, and not having a taste for James Patterson and christian lit I've been in a bit of a dark hole, book wise. I've taken to reading a lot of 19th century stuff that I can get for free from Project Gutenberg (... let me back up and note that I've retired and am on a fixed income, so my days of limitless book buying have ended). I'm currently reading Fareed Zakaria's Post-American World Release 2.0 (okay, the library occasionally has something interesting) and Castle Rackrent by Maria Edgeworth.
I'm especially looking for a group where I can discuss non-fiction science, current events, and history. I'm so glad to have discovered this website!
