Do recent world events help in the timing for a novel's acceptance?
My new thriller novel, “The True Virus”, is timely since the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza is similar to what takes place in my book. Would an agent or publisher take this into consideration in accepting my submission?

Also, with the recent hacking incidents being reported by the news media, my novel, “The True Virus” is again timely. The novel opens with the CIA’s main computer being hacked into. Again, with all that’s happening, do you feel that this opening hacking incident would catch the attention of an agent or publisher?

After what happen at the Boston Marathon, I thought this scene from my novel, “The True Virus”, would also make my story timely. Let me add, I don’t mean to try to sensationalize my book by referring to such a tragic and sad event.
[Sure enough, all watched as they observed Ihid sit behind a pillar and open a back pack and remove something. After fiddling with the object Ihid had removed, they saw him lay it down and start to run. They could see Ihid’s face clearly now on the other monitor, a look of fear showed as he ran toward an exit door. But all eyes were fixed on the monitor showing what they now believed to be a bomb exploding and spraying small fragments of contaminated glass on everyone close by. Since these security cameras also picked up sound, not only was the sound of the blast deafening but the screams of those in the food court was frightening.]

Ooh, very interesting. Yeah, I think world events would help.. Just think of the popularity of Zombie movies and books.. Go ahead and try. Your novel sounds interesting and very promising. Go reach your dreams!

It might work. Truman Capote jumped right in on that murder in Holcomb.
So go for it. Mr. Capote
