Contemporary French Language Novels
I like to read in French, but I have trouble finding contemporary French writers to read. By "contemporary" I mean novels that have been written since 1950. I also want to be able to read these books on my Kindle (at the moment I am restricted to the Amazon.de site, but in a few weeks that will change to Amazon.com). Does anyone have any favourite French language authors that fit these criteria?

Re: Contemporary French Language Novels
Hi NewPhil,
I recommend Anna Gavalda. The most popular is "Ensemble, c'est tout" which had been made a movie too (I did not see it though). What I like about this particular book (and the others like "Je l'amais", "L'Échappée belle") in particular is here characters. They are multifaceted, have history and future. They are human being with good and bad sides.
Another french book I liked very much is "L'Elegance du herisson". Here two, there characters are very well defined, neither black nor white but interestingly "zebra-striped". It has a lot of philosophic elements, which not everybody likes. Try it
Hope that helps
Amuse-toi!

Re: Contemporary French Language Novels
I enjoyed 'L'Élégance du hérisson' by Muriel Barbery very much.
