Look forward to joining this discussion once I get the book downloaded on my Kindle. I read Atlas Shrugged some years ago so interested in a refresher and discussion but also in learning more about Ayn Rand and her philosophy.

I just finished reading Rand's We the Living and I must say that I found it to be her best fiction. She wrote it after escaping Russia to the US and her youthful experience shows in the passion that she brought to her characters. I found it much more enjoyable that either The Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged. She presents an excellent impression of what it was like to live in Russia during and after the Revolution and her characters are very human instead of the robots in her other books. Her prose is beautiful and flows nicely. I recommend it highly as an enjoyable read.

Advance Review Copy Giveaway - Final Days

Book One of the Nine Inch Bride series is subtitled Conundrum and a Complimentary Reviewer Copy will be available through October 15. On sale thereafter at all popular eBook outlets.

Book Two, A Stone of Conscience is expected to be out early in the New Year.

NINE INCH BRIDE

The wry, symbolic tale of a consummate revolutionary who co-opts Wall Street to fuel a bonfire of America's corporate political culture.

Book One: Conundrum
In this symbolic political fiction set in the near future we meet a young Wall Street analyst facing financial ruin in a major market crash. He is rescued in his descent by a uniquely talented young woman with a dedicated revolutionary agenda. Together they form a most extraordinary partnership in a mission to change the world.

What readers are saying...

"The Anti-Rand. This is a serious, literate book which repays close attention. The anonymous author cleverly satirizes contemporary political and economic doctrine, its dogma and its madness. The tale told is not so whimsical as the existence of a nine inch tall title character may suggest, but a rather grim polemic on the evils of modern corporate capitalism."

and...

"Nine Inch Bride is not so distant a scenario . . . its predictive details are logical developments; a believable extension of our own times. Its observations draw a short straight line of direct relevance back to the world as it stands today, and in doing so offer a sharp and intelligent indictment of the evils of our time and their possible effect on the shape of our future."

and again...

"There's depth in this near future, in the emotional development of the characters as well as in the understated sci-fi and unfolding espionage, which buffs of those genres will appreciate. Emotions ring true and the relevance to contemporary America is unmistakeable. For me NINE INCH BRIDE fills a void as the literary answer to Atlas Shrugged."

Here is a helpful website The Association For Objective Law:
http://www.tafol.org/

Also The Objective Standard:
http://www.theobjectivestandard.com/index.asp
The Objective Standard is a quarterly journal of culture and politics based on the idea that for every human concern-from personal matters to foreign policy, from the sciences to the arts, from education to legislation-there are demonstrably objective standards by reference to which we can assess what is true or false, good or bad, right or wrong. The purpose of the journal is to analyze and evaluate ideas, trends, events, and policies accordingly.

We maintain that the standards of both knowledge and value derive from the facts of reality; that truth is discovered only by means of reason (i.e., through observation and logic); that the factual requirements of man's life on earth determine his moral values; that the selfish pursuit of one's own life-serving goals is virtuous; and that individual rights are moral principles defining the fundamental requirements of a civilized society.

We stand opposed to the notion that the standards of knowledge and value are not factual but subjective (feeling-based) or other-worldly (faith-based); that truth is ultimately dictated by majority opinion or a "supernatural" being's will; that democratic consensus or "God's word" determines what is moral; that sacrifice for the common good or in obedience to "God's commands" is virtuous; and that rights are social conventions or "divine decrees."

In stark contrast to these philosophic approaches, ours is a philosophy of reality, reason, egoism, and laissez-faire capitalism. In a word, we uphold Objectivism, the philosophy of Ayn Rand, and it serves as our frame of reference in analyzing the cultural and political issues of the day.

The Objective Standard blog, daily commentary from an Objectivist perspective, I highly recommend it:

Funny, you can take every one of those "objectivist" tenets and arrive at the conclusions of Karl Marx. In other words, "laissez faire capitalism" is a total non-sequitur, rather a "deus ex-machina," from those tenets.
