Hi, I'm somewhat computer-challenged. Not sure how to do this, but would love to discuss this book and movie. We saw the movie Friday night and I loved it. Just started reading the book. So, I'm in.

I finished the book, may go see the movie tomorrow with my grandson. It may be an interesting comparison.

Crystalline,

I think you will enjoy the movie. I saw it the other night, and am now reading the book. How old is your grandson? Now that you've given me the idea, I think my 11-year-old granddaughter would like it, too.

If you think you're going to read and participate in the discussion of "The Martian," by Andy Weird, please make a brief post here letting us know! Just "check in" by saying "I'm in" or whatever you want to say to give your fellow members a heads up that they can expect to hear more from you soon.

This discussion is open to those of you that just plan to watch the movie "The Martian" that is hitting theaters October 2, 2015. Our goal is to have a great discussion so please don't shy away from this forum if you're not interested in the book. From the reviews the movie is going to be awesome.

Also, please consider this forum the perfect place to discuss the wider topics of unmanned and manned space exploration, the space program in general or anything else related to astronomy or cosmology.
I'm in, I hope.

Hello,

Hmm, I wanted to do that 'quote' thing, but nothing I tried worked. So, I'm replying to Betty T Osiek's
'I'm in, I hope.' Just wanted to say it's a really good book. What I have trouble with are these posts ------ as you can see. ;) Anyway, enjoy!
