Out with the "Intro Forum" and In with MEMBER Bios!
We should have done this long ago...

The "Introduce Yourself" forum has been deleted. All posts from that forum were merged into the General Discussion forum.

Now, all members have a new optional area on their profile page for adding a personal Bio. Your Bio can contain up to 5,000 characters including links. For an example look at my profile page.

You can reach every members profile by clicking on their username OR by clicking on the little "Profile" button on the bottom left of every one of their posts. You should see these links on the bottom of every post: PROFILE, PM and EMAIL

To add your own Bio click on the User Control Panel link in the top green navigation bar. Then select Profile. Then Bio.

Have fun!

Again: User Control Panel > Profile > Bio

Our new Bios are superior to the Intro forum for these reasons...

Reason 1:
If you joined BookTalk.org more than oh let's say a month ago your Intro thread is buried deep down in the Introduce Yourself forum. It is basically lost forever unless someone replies to it or you personally bump it back to the top of that forum by adding an additional comment to the thread.

Your new Bio follows you around and is accessible with ease. You can edit it whenever you like. Nobody can push your Bio down to the bottom of a forum. It will always be as active and available as you are on the BookTalk.org forums, because it is now associated with every one of your posts by way of the above mentioned links.

Reason 2:
Few active members actually greeted new members. The Introduce Yourself forum was a ghost town sending the wrong message to newcomers. People would join and say hello and then crickets. Now, we're hoping they will actually make a meaningful post in the real forums where all of us are hanging out daily.

So please add a Bio as soon as you feel your creative juices flowing. Once you've added a Bio to your profile let us know here in this thread so we can check it out. My Bio is gibberish right now. I'll tweak it soon.
