Hello!

Have we made any progress in picking the next non fiction discussion topic? We seemed to have stalled with history, pre Roman. Can we continue this selection process?

Mesopotamia, ancient Iran

Mesopotamia, an ancient Greek term meaning "the land between rivers," is considered to be the cradle of civilization because this is where we find the origins of agriculture, written language, and cities.

Pre-Roman, Hittites, etc would be fine. This could also emcompass religion, which is indeed a major discussion topic here. Religion and ritual in pre-history are fascinating. Something Stonehenge-ish, perhaps? Minoan?
History is clearly the desired topic, pre Roman has been suggested, does anyone have any more ideas on this?

Maybe we should simply say that all book suggestions for the next non-fiction book discussion period have to pertain to historical events that transpired at least 100 years ago. This is our first time starting the book selection process with narrowing down an infinite number of topics to one that is of interest to the majority of participants.

So in an effort to get this process to the next step can we all agree to this? If so I will create a new thread calling for book suggestions within this theme of 100+ year old historical events.

OK, then it is settled. We'll start the book suggestion process as soon as I finish creating the suggestion thread.
