Looking for Book Recommendations

Unread post

Hello, all!

New user here hoping you can all help me out.

I've recently been getting into two newish genres of books. I'm looking for recommendations on books that fit those genres. I generally like books that are part of a series rather than standalone books (it's like watching a one-season show... just when you're getting into it, it ends).

The first type of book would be one of initial human colonization on a new planet. Not so much like the Mars book, but more of a "second Earth" type of book. One where people travel and land. Then have to establish a colony and the trials and tribulations that come with exploring a new world. A book of this type that I read and enjoyed was Scott G. Geir's book Gennellen: Planetfall.

The second type of genre I'm interested in, is along the lines of people (or a city or location) going back in time for some unexplained reason and having to discover what has happened, and how to adapt. Along this lines, the books I have already enjoyed are Michael Crighton's Timeline, Eric Flint's 1632, and S. M. Sterling's Nantucket Series (Island in the Sea of Time, Against the Tide of Years, On the Oceans of Eternity).

Thanks in advance for any recommendations you can make!
