Lately I've been playing catch-up with my reading.

Just finished Mockingjay, of the Hunger Games series. Working on Tana French's The Likeness. Will soon begin the first book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones).

I'm too cheap/too broke to buy books when they come out, so I end up borrowing them later. What can you do?

I liked Mockingjay, and was impressed with how Suzanne Collins wrapped up the series. The first book might still have been my favorite, but I enjoyed how the 2nd and 3rd books expanded the world and brought the plot to a satisfying conclusion. Also, I was glad to see more development of Peeta and Gale, two characters who have been accused of being a little too 2-dimensional. Oh, and I was actually sad when the love triangle was resolved, as opposed to slightly nauseated (as I often feel when authors dedicate huge portions of their books to corny love triangles).

So far, The Likeness looks like it will hook me in the same way In The Woods did. I'm only about 80 pages in, but I enjoy learning things about Cassie's character that were not as present in the first book.

I loved the game of thrones. I really enjoy novels with a plethora of characters and several plots. I am reading City of Golden Shadow and Shadowplay by Tad Williams.
