Yes, these are both great books which pick up on the current cultural themes that have been most prominent in discussion here in threads on Art of No Deal and Impeach Trump. One of my key concerns at the moment is that you cannot defeat a failing paradigm until you have a better one to put in its place. Confused stopgaps just don't win hearts and minds. Both of these books provide acute investigations of failing paradigms, helping to shake the foundations. How well they get to the depths of the causes and solutions would be interesting to see.LevV wrote:Good idea. I would love to read and discuss:-
I'm suggesting Robert Wright’s book Why Buddhism is True: The Science and Philosophy of Meditation and Enlightenment.

Penelope, we're voting on the two books mentioned above. Please read the last handful of posts.
Robert Tulip, I agree completely.

If I had to pick one, it would be Coates, but only because I've read the other one. I don't recall if we've discussed two books at once previously, but it should be worth a try; perhaps this will become the new norm. Folks can pick one or the other or both...

Yes, we have discussed multiple books at the same time many different times over the years. This will work well. Especially because both of these books are not super long. I will create the forums today!

I like the idea of choosing one or the other or both books concurrently. Both books at the same time would be too much for me at this point in time so will choose Hillbilly Elegy.

Both books will be read and discussed concurrently. I'm going to create the two forums tonight.
