I can't wait to read the answers to this, I hope it gets a lot of response. Obesity is so epidemic now, and I wonder if the book reading strata of the population has been immune, or if all the sedentary book reading has made them fatter. In my case retirement and this computer have added at least 20 pounds.I was always so thin that I was referred to doctors for severe underweight, though I had no disorder they could identify. Now, I am still slender but with what I think is a pot belly that I am desperate to shed. I moved to a town where walking is half impossible. I have gone from 132 to 165 in 18 months, and I am a six foot male of 48. Sounds ideal? But, I say it is not, that should be muscle not fat of the avoirdupois kind. I intend to work on it over the next six months but any leftover fat come March is getting sucked out on my visit to Argentina at that time. By the way, I would avoid all those "diet pills" you see on TV, they are not proven to work, and may be dangerous, I had a friend that in his mid-thirties decided to use them and got colon cancer within months. Lipo may not be something you would put on your Xmas newsletter but it will not give you cancer.

Ruinean, I like your openness.I've would like to lose 5-10 lbs, which I think should be pretty easy for me, providing I have the time and money to put into a gym membership. I'm not psycho about it, but I do like to feel fit and healthy, and I'm definitely not at my tip top. And, although I eat healthfully, I hate to diet- so exercise is the way to go for me!

5'4 and 108 lbs. Overweight? No. Top-heavy? Unfortunately. I'd love to run without wearing 2 sports bras. Then again ... buoyancy has advantages when swimming. For me it's not about weight; rather fitness level. Endurance. Stamina. Performance. Absolutely love the sensation of my blood surging through my body. Hell of a rush knowing MY momentum's the trigger. Federika ... I hate diet's too. I agree shedding a few pounds for you should be easy. Half the battle's mental

Ruinean ... You are correct. Obesity is a major problem. I believe arguments can be well-grounded in personal responsability from the angle of stimuli / release "response
