I'm currently reading Fatelessness by Kertesz

Unread post

:o I'm an Esl teacher and I'm reading this book as part of the Language and Literaturesubject.
The book is about a Jewish boy from Budapest who is taken to Auschwitz. I have to focus my lesson plans from the context perspective. This is part of the literature in translation that has to be studied in the programme. Even though is it a world wide topic, my context of reception is very different from the context of production as my country (Chile, Southamerica) is far away from this geopolitical situation. It would be very enriching to discuss the book with other readers to enhance my understanding, get teaching ideas and explore the characters, plot and context in more detail. In terms of literary elements, I'll be paying attention to: characterization, narrator, register, diction, figures of speech and setting. I' currently reading chapter three and I have identified these themes: innocence, identity, abuse of power, family, love, religion, hope.
The main character is Gyuri and in chapter three he is just entering the concentration camp. :o
