People do tend to come together when facing a common crisis. I've seen it so many times. When a hurricane is heading our way, it is amazing and inspiring how neighbors, that normally don't interact much, start to help each other prepare for the storm. I'll see everyone outside helping each other with sand bags and hurricane shutters.

I've got several friends that work as insurance adjusters, and they tell me stories about how people are constantly trying to scam them. Just one example: people regularly claim that their roof was damaged by hail, so they think they are entitled to a new roof. The problem is, they have a screened enclosure around their pool that mysteriously doesn't have a single hole in the screen.

You're probably right. Those people that were blatantly trying to scam their insurance company probably got less assistance in the end. And those people hurt us all, as one insurance company after the next, is exiting Florida.

A few intricate pieces have emerged from the last report.
First, I am now semiretired, I say semi because I have left the company I was working for because of just plain burnout. 25 years—Christ was it getting to be a bore. Good money and all but shit— I couldn’t take the selfishness of the industry and myself anymore. It’s gotten to the point where I have been talking to a psychiatrist.
There’s been this obsession with counting over and over again, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8…,… I was grinding my teeth to it. By midday my head was pounding.
Stress ad nauseam was ever present. It still is to a degree.
PTSD comes in many and subtle forms but— I can report that I now have complete walls throughout my home, that I have actual doors were doors should be. Though nothing is complete yet, I’ve managed good progress even while I was still on my regular 9 to 5 schedule, but now I’m making better strides being able to dedicate my full attention to my self.
The industry of my recent past is and always will be extractive, which is to say that it
only takes, it never gives.
Recreational boating, sport fishing and the like is a pollutant. It destroys, it does not build. Nothing good can come from the like.
Like so many other things that are by design supposed to be a social activity it is inevitably antisocial.

Organized sports; antisocial.
Religion; antisocial.
Monogamous sex; antisocial.
Libertarianism; antisocial.
Partisan politics; antisocial.
Subtly not giving a fuck; antisocial.
Militarized borders; antisocial.
No smoking; antisocial.

Social Media; antisocial.
Social distancing; antisocial.
Toxoplasma; antisocial.

To be certain, I am happy with the way things are going, fore these days are going as they should—me— I’ll take the long way round.

I’m doing all the work on the house myself, is it any wonder?.
In the end-(baring Toxoplasmosis) fingers crossed that I am not afflicted—(never had a test done) I will complete the rebuild sometime in March 2024.
I’m not the only one, there are literally thousands of people who are traveling the same route as I.
Massive amounts of people are still rebuilding their homes and businesses and possessions. That’s a big part of the overall stress. It’s not just about me. That rebuild is
Global.
I’m lucky in that the destruction that has kicked me in the balls is past, I’m handily getting on with it. I can for now afford it. How many people are currently living there destruction?. Lives lost, things that will never reappear?.
Name the continent and I can tell you the waste, better yet— how about you tell me!.
I have depressive disorder and sometimes I hate my life but—I love my mind and I would not deem to trade it with anybody.
Isn’t there something about walking in another person’s shoes? Mine are comfortable but I can’t see them being worn by someone who doesn’t give a fuck.

It's so good to hear that you are recovering from that hurricane. It sucks knowing that thousands of people may never fully recover. I know a lot of people didn't have homeowners insurance, or they lost things that cannot be replaced. The pain must have been horrific for those people, and of course, you went through your own hell.

Now you have me curious. How are all of those things you mentioned antisocial? What do you mean by that?
