Holding Hands With Dreamers

Unread post

My ancestors taught me of suffering
My spirit guides introduce psychedelics
And I'm
Floating on the same knife
That was intended for my heart
I would have let it pierce but I
Saw her green eyes from across
What seemed like another dimension
I entered her and kissed her neck
She needed my strong grasp
And I her sweet nectar
I let the affair continue for ages
I had no need to awake
We laughed and tossed on the floor
An acrobat was at the helm when she
Took charge and grasped her hips
Dosing me the perfect remedy
For a murder scene

Take me away from the disease where I can
See mountains and search for gemstones
I'll give her an emerald
A ruby
And a pound of gold
I told her all I can do
Is take the years of torment
And turn them into art
I am poor
I am alone
My work is ignored
I hear the whispers and the rumors
"Poets have no place to earn a living boy
Go plow a field!"
Oh if only I could call to Stevenson or Rilke
Why is our craft not enough!
I don't do this because I'm lazy or it's easy
This is MY SOUL I bare
I've thrown away a hundred poems at a time
All these masses want to do is
Leech their way into wealth
I can remain poor but at least give me a girl
One wife. One daughter. Two souls.
Perhaps I'll remain forsaken
And fall into the disease heavier than ever
Tragedy strikes more than once
So pay your cable providers
To watch Kardashians get drunk and argue
I'll be in another dimension
Counting pennies for a dollar sandwich
Cursing the day currency became God
Open up the ocean and bury me
With a symphony reminding you
How hard I tried to make you feel my love
I have FREEDOM on my arm
And some hateful words on my tongue
Yet I'm too damaged;
Not fit for this treacherous world of
Violence and greed
All they ever do is scroll past
My favorite gift to give
If I have never truly entertained you
I am more delusional than I thought
For I thought dying in front of a crowd
Was a knee-slapper

But one more dream
They have one more dream to give
Were you unaware
Of the team I have assembled?
Actors. Dancers. Photographers. Warriors.
They wanted a fight
And God made damn sure
The entertainers earned a place in this world
So we assemble pretty pictures
Beautiful melodies
Fine prose
So that you
After a long day of work
Can find peace and joy
In what we have worked so hard to gift you
Give me a drum: I'll beat it
Give me a landscape: I'll compose it
Give me a microphone: I'll rock it
Give me a page: And I'll spill precious ink
If all of these talents are unworthy
And I have truly wasted your time
I will apologize and go to the next in line
Because God is in our art
And some are looking
For exactly what we have
If all else fails
I'll call to my guitar players
Buy strong ale
And live my last days in their arms
My crazy side is welcomed there
And she loves the rock n' rollers
Wherever she may be
Yes, we have a show for the universe
You just never acknowledged it
Or helped fund it
So we spent tireless hours working
Without the tools that would make this story
EPIC
I hope you enjoy your journey while
You stand alongside and
Hold hands with dreamers
Lust, intellect, and a touch of pain
Are truly all you'll need
For our suffering is great
And our hearts are pure
But as we play our role
As servants to your imagination
I think love will reign
And the show will shock

With love,
