i dont know about witness, i'm trying to understand your position.

:hmm:

so Flann the sequence i've got from your posts so far is this...

(X) Satan is a fallen angel. A conscious intelligent malevolent spiritual being.

(Y) you believe (X) because you believe the bible is true. It's a matter of interpretation and that seems to be best to you.

(Z) and you believe (Y) for lots of reasons but fulfilled prophecy is a good one.

you said there are prophecies
Flann wrote:So clear there is unanimous agreement on them by scholars.
then as examples you gave
the prophecies of Isaiah and Jeremiah on the Babylonian captivity, the conquest of Babylon by Cyrus and the decree to release the Jews and rebuild the temple and the city of Jerusalem, would be clear examples.
so i'm going with those.

does that all seem fair?

i dont believe in a literal hell bob.

i find the typical christian understanding of hell to be about the most offensive doctrine i have ever heard.

i would call it psychological terrorism, and to teach it to children is to me tantamount to child abuse.

but what about you bob

please explain what you think hell is like? What are the ramifications of that place according to the Bible?

i'll make a new thread so we don't clutter up this one.

I don't think it's possible to prove absolutely that they were written before the events. What I'm saying is that objectively the preponderance of external and internal evidence favours this.

The higher critics approach these books with a prior philosophical bias which causes them to reject the external textual evidence and the internal evidence, and invent conspiracies of deceit to explain them away.

The messianic prophecies are better because there can be no dispute that they predate Christ. But Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53 aren't going to convince Richard Carrier because he thinks Jesus didn't even exist, and Pontius Pilate did not condemn him to death.
No,it was all hallucinated and voila Christianity. What I'm saying is that I find the evidence convincing and see no good no reason not to believe these prophecies were fulfilled, such as the one about the purchase of the field for 30 pieces of silver.

Well, said Flann. Plus, there is TONS of evidence that a literal Jesus Christ did live. Maybe they should look up the Gregorian calendar of "Anno Domini" and find its full meaning!

Way to hang in there and declare truth!

I have a very good reason. Men can't magically see into the future. After a trillion man-hours of studying our universe, we find that such a thing does not happen. There are countless explanations other than magic, no matter how far-fetched or conspiratorial seeming. And every single one of them is more likely than magic.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.” - Douglas Adams

 damn, i knew there was something fundamental i was missing in my line of reasoning

seriously though when you are a "person of christian faith" Men can magically see into the future, and it seems you can have bizarre interpretations of old books that confirm it as fact.

but i think when i look into Flann's fulfilled prophecies i am going to find the error demonstrable.

i have recently heard a few of Flann's favourites discussed and was mildly amused.

Silly Billy Graham checks in

http://www.crossmap.com/blogs/billy-gra ... satan-6973
But in the meantime, the cosmic battle between God and Satan continues, and will continue until the end of the present age. As I've often said in this column, don't think of the devil as a cute little cartoon figure, wearing a red suit and carrying a pitchfork. Satan is a powerful spiritual being, and his one goal is to oppose God and His people. As the Bible says, "Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against ... the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil" (Ephesians 6:12).
more assertions without evidence :coco:

i mean if i said "Basilisk is real you know", christians would call me crazy, and rightly so.

but if call BS on their superstition they are all, Satan has blinded your mind :coco:

these are all just projections from the dark side of our own minds. We can't admit our own evil or the evil of others so voila! i give you Satan :coco:

the Devil made me do it :-D

christians have said God is all good so they need someone to account for evil.....Satan

it's high time this retarded theology got what it deserves.
