Oh, maybe you mean "'Salem's Lot"? It's got vampires, small town, hero is a visiting writer...

Anyway, I love Stephen King, too! He wrote so many good books! The Green Mile, The Stand, The Dark Half, The Talisman, and just so many darn great books. What I like about him is that, although most people peg him as a writer of the horror story genre, his stories aren't really just "horror stories", y'know? I can't really decide which book is my favorite, but I really like The Talisman (co-written by Peter Straub) and Hearts in Atlantis.
Books are a uniquely portable magic. ~Stephen King
