Economic Metaphor

Unread post

Neo-Libertarianism is a knee on the neck of the common good.

In the modern view I.e. 20th century. Libertarianism is traceable to the Austrian School of Economics that in my view was bastardized by the likes of Hayek, Mises, Rand, Friedman, Reagan and the libertarians who pushed for California’s prop 13.

It’s this perverse economic ideology that has crushed the necessary financial means to maintain American infrastructure. Simply: The less taxes collected the less financial support for those things that are good for the community.

We witnessed over the last 40 years the damages done by the libertarian’s ideology, The growth of Social Darwinism. To me, Social Darwinism/ libertarianism is the unrecognized plague ailing the world.

Libertarianism is the social and economic savagery that enables the likes of PSfB, Putin, Kim Jong-un, MBS, Jinping, Netanyahu among others, to set aside justice for money.

Libertarianism in the modern era is nothing more than the pursuit of wealth for power controlled by an elite group of nihilist. There has been a return to Veblen’s leisure class theory’s. An example is the rapid spread of covid19. Covid 19 was spread by the tourism class and the business class travelers.

The very public murder of George Floyd is but one part of the catalyst that set off what has become a global protest against racism and unequal justice. Floyds nefarious past is but a minor concern for the protesters and their supporters for the fact that his career criminality did not warrant a public execution.

I do not condone the violence against persons and personal property, nor do I condone violence against public properties and public employees. The rioting and looting diminishes the genuine point of the protests and that to me is a shame. The looters and violent protesters are insurgents with their own agendas, I will not defend them. The best that can happen is rooting out the dangerous agitators which has been happening.

I am not at all surprised by what has transpired these past few weeks. Not by what’s going on in the streets or on Booktalk. I’m dismayed by some but pleased mostly . Black Lives Matter is important to me because it is the Black community taking the lead in this time of troubling politics. Some from the Black community held back their votes in 2016 for reasons of their own. I do not judge, I celebrate their return. We lefties need them in the fight against libertarian social Darwinism. The black community is going to determine the next PODUS and I am glad for that. PSfB and his savage social Darwinist enablers have brought about this anarchy because that is what libertarianism boils down to.

It is high time that in the U.S. we recognize the more important social bonds of community over differences in race, ethnicity, religion, money. I see people realizing they are not alone, we stand together or fall further apart, the possible tragedy of the commons.

It is important to clearly examine the totems of our past. Though there seems to be an attacking by ritualistic vandals there is little ritual involved. Those statues are nothing, hardly symbolic. Paraphrasing Ant: those statues are walked past countless times without ever giving them a second thought. But the little becomes a lot, especially during stressful times. People today are stressed for many diverse reasons which is why the key is Black Lives Matter, It is a focal point. It is better to have some antiquated totems defaced or torn down than an alternative of blood on the streets. People know this but not all people are controllable. As I wrote: there is some shame in what is going on, but that shame is wrought by a larger shame.

Libertarianism is that larger shame, It is the root cause of stress. Libertarianism allows systemic inequality, whether that inequality is part of the criminal justice system or economic opportunity, Which one is the crux of the matter?.

Money and the uninhibited pursuit there of is at the root of these issues.

Leftist do not seek social utopias. They seek economic reform in the vein of FDR’s New Deal. They seek social reform in the vein of some hope that has as yet been struck. Leisure class mentalities pervade to much of life needs, Leisure class wants have overpowered the community. The common good has been buried beneath an avalanche of individual libertarianism.
