Welcome, Irwin. I recently read a review of Philip Dick's work by Ursula LeGuin, maybe the most notable writer of "soft" sci-fi (well, okay, some people count Harlan Ellison and William Gibson and Neal Stephenson as "softies" and they are pretty notable too,) and she was also charmed by his quirkiness and honored his honesty.

Hard sci-fi first caught my imagination, but now I can hardly stand to read Heinlein and even Asimov kind of leaves me cold. People change, I guess.
