Danger of death?

Unread post

Tourists were told in the bus near Agra that for the Taj Mahal they have to get out here. It was in the middle of nowhere. Other passengers asked on the bus about this did not answer. They were either afraid or did not speak English. Fortunately, the experienced globetrotters had followed the route on a map. Since they had not yet crossed the railway line drawn there they remained seated for caution. Who knows what was waiting outside?
In Latin America the call: "Last Stop - you have to get out here!" is a popular trick. To help the taxi driver waiting for customers or worse. Good scams travel quickly in the world of crooks, even between continents!
A reader had a good tip: Some clever travellers use bicycle gps navigation sets.

It seems like a good idea to put together a book on safe travel practices. I used to travel quite a bit and I'm familiar with these types of scams. Oftentimes you just have to use common sense in such situations, though often things go too fast for tourists to react. Thanks for the book suggestion!
