Re: Are writers usually weak in personality terms
I've come to know a few writers, and when I worked in a Barnes & Noble I had the chance to meet dozens when they came to the store for book signings. Just like any other cross-section of humanity, they vary from person to person. There are a few who seem rather beaten down or weak in terms of pe...

Re: Suggest a series for me? :)
OK, I see the source of the confusion now. When you did your research on the series, you only read a description of the most recent book, which, I might add, did a singularly poor job of capturing the entire scope of the world or this particular story. Here is another opinion for you: "In a rev...

Re: Suggest a series for me? :)
I looked them up and they seemed to be in quite bad taste in my opinion. And the second two aren't ongoing. :/ Thanks anyway. :/ Oh, careful there! You almost brought down the wrath of millions of worldwide Discworld fans onto your karmic scales. "Bad Taste" is a phrase I have never heard...

The ONE Book You Would Suggest For A Genre
A thread in another forum made me think. I always have lots of suggestions for new readers to a genre I am partial to, but what if you could only suggest ONE book?? (Shocking thought!) So I really had to sit down and wonder about that. I thought I would ask some of my friends on here the same questi...

Re: Most addictive book with a political message?
I think the Mitch Rapp series by Vince Flynn is very political from start to finish in it's own way. I like the Mitch Rapp books too, though I am only about halfway through his series. The last one I read was the one where he had to rescue some tourist family being held hostage, then lead a team in...

Re: Most addictive book with a political message?
Robert Heinlein tended to include a lot of political messages and warnings in his writing. One of the reasons he is considered a prophet of science fiction is how relevant many of his messages remain even today. I felt a chill go down my spine the first time I read Starship Troopers. Its battles aga...

Re: Have any weird reading habits?
When I was a kid, I ended up replacing a lot of library books due to water damage from the bathtub. Funnily enough, I have since learned not to fight falling asleep in the tub because of the warm of the water and the day's stresses. My tub is the perfect shape for sleeping in without slipping down u...

Re: To All the writers in booktalk...
Well, here is an interesting topic. I am still unpublished, though that will soon be changing. How successful it will end up being is another story, but the fact is that I have so many stories in my head that are bursting to get out that I will keep publishing as long as my base costs are met. I'll ...

Re: Have any weird reading habits?
I like to get in the tub and turn the water on to a slow trickle, slow enough to take at least a hour to actually fill the tub. Then I get in and enjoy having my feet under the hot trickle as water slowly fills around me while I read. If it is a good book, I can stay in there for hours, letting the ...
