Daily Show - 9/12/05 thru 9/15/05

I'm assuming this is the correct area to post this.I just wanted to mention that the Daily Show w/Jon Stewart is doing a special series this week on Evolution. Last night's show was good. They covered the Scopes "Monkey" Trial a little bit. Made fun of the locals who live where that trial was held. He said there was a College that teaches Creationism. Did ya'll know we had a college that teaches Creationism? And his guest was an author of the book "The Republican War on Science." I was impressed with the show. I think it's gonna be a good series.

I assume this college in a theological college, which is almost a contradiction in terms.

I guess that's what it is. The subtitle (or motto, or whatever it's called) to the college reads: "A highly ranked, nationally competitive college that puts Christ above all."Bryan College Named after William Jennings Bryan. The prosecutor of the Scopes Trial.I see now that this isn't a rare college. I did a little search and found that there are several colleges like that. Colleges! These are friggin colleges, man. That's supposed to mean 'higher education.' Edited by: GOD defiles Reason at: 9/13/05 11:14 am

While discussing intelligent design theory in science class, Stewart said something like, "it's crazy claim magic fun hour"! That had me lauging out loud! There have also been three authors on the show this week that have written books I'd like to read. Chris Mooney's The Republican War on Science, Kurt Vonegut's A Man Without a Country, and Doug Larson's The Evolution of Evolution Theory are all books I plan on reading.

My expectations were probably too high for what I was hoping for in a comedy show addressing the evolution/creation controversy. But I was really disapointed in the last show - the "finale." I mean, to close a week long series on evolution with Gwyneth Paltrow as a guest? C'mon. I don't think it would be too much to ask to have a Richard Dawkins as a closer in lieu of a Hollywood actress.

I was hoping to see Dawkins or Shermer. I missed the Vonnegut show and last night's show.Yeah, the Daily Show is comedy, first and foremost...so I was not expecting much...but I do enjoy the way the ID'ers were made to look...silly.Mr. P.
