Can YouTube give creative independent authors big leverage?

Unread post

Recently I have thought about YouTube's ability to give independent authors a cheap way to get a big leg up in the business. A friend of mine has decided to test this hypothesis by adapting a scene from the independent novel "The Corruption of Michael Levitt" to a short Youtube video. The idea is to create a sneak peak feel, allow people to sample the book, perhaps read it, and if they like it, they can easily share the sneak peak with their friends. Give it a look and let me know if you think this could be a great platform for an independent book's success.
