Re: A better understanding of my LIBRARY
Reminds me of why I keep old encyclopedias around. I don't always look at them, but I have a set in my writing room I turn to when I want a better understanding of a subject. As a reference, they're outdated by decades, but as a means to familiarization they work great. I turn to a subject, learn so...

Re: What books not to write.
A few weeks ago, I got an invite to speak on a podcast about my writing. I write short fiction stories. During our conversation, I brought up that one of the reasons I add my fiction to the Internet Archive is due to my thinking publishers might be seeking more science and fantasy fiction short stor...

Re: A better understanding of my LIBRARY
I even own a collection of leather-bound books called the Easton Press "100 Greatest Books Ever Written." They are more collectors items than books to be read. My gosh they're beautiful. Whenever I want to read a book from that collection I get a copy in paperback and don't touch the gorg...

Re: Social media is work!
UPDATE on my original post "Social Media is Work!" I have returned to main stream social media but am going to spend more time working on my writing and less time on social media. I came to this conclusion after a week away from main stream social media I made considerable progress on a st...

Re: Where can I sign up for a competition ?
Here's a site if you're looking for publishers seeking short story submissions. It's got a lot of resources: mags, journals, academic publishers. You can filter out searches to make it easier.

Re: Coming to terms with The Waltons
it seemed too derivitive of other sagas of powerful families. Your comment made me think of the TV show Bonanza. I never realized how protective the father was of his land until I watched an episode where a wagon broke down on the property, and he rushed out to tell the wagon team they were trespas...

Re: Retelling of 1984
It'll be interesting to see how the story's received. In one article I found, there's artwork that reminds me of a bookstore promo poster. Not sure if that's going to be the book's cover. Speaking of female authors, Ida Lupino co-wrote and directed one of the most suspenseful film noir movies of all...

Re: Coming to terms with The Waltons
The show, Yellowstone, might be described as an antithesis to The Waltons. As crazy as this is going to sound, this is first time I've heard of Yellow Stone. I read the Wiki intro to the show. Seems interesting. Thanks to 1990s western movies/shows, I associate Kevin Costner with sepia tone. Appare...

Re: Coming to terms with The Waltons
I hadn't seen many episodes of The Waltons until my mother started to have a problem receiving over-the-air signals from the television channel she watches weather on. Some amateur radio operators said her local news station had to reduce their transmitting power due to reallocation of frequencies. ...

Re: Retelling of 1984
You make a point, and ever since I made the post, I been thinking about it. From what I take from the article, the book's seen as a companion not replacement for the original. However, this sentence, from the article, I don't agree with, "Publisher Granta said that Julia understands the world o...
