There's another explanation. That is, when someone makes arguments that are spectacularly illogical, and refuses to listen to reason, one starts losing the desire to talk with that person.
I was once discussing why my church uses "she" as often as "he" for God, and the person I was talking to said, "But God had to be a male. Otherwise how could he get Mary pregnant?"

I was, as the Brits say, gobsmacked. I couldn't think of anything to say that would not belittle the poor man. Original, though - I will give him that.

Still nothing to logically refute the accuracy of what hell is.

Another chapter deals with God "pouring" it on and possibly being excessive in an eternal hell.

But Still Best Wishes!

If I have read BB's chapter 19 correctly, I'm to gather that hell is more a mental thing, that, we suffer the consequence's of remorse through a self-imposed disturbance of a moral conscience.

To me, this seems perfectly normal, Some people can and do suffer a personal torment over loved ones and what they may suffer them selves, I think this is called empathy.

For a human who may have done a regretful thing, there may well be remorseful feelings.

So if hell is a mental state of mind, (as apparently fire and brimstone are manifestations of a tormented mind) why would heaven/God not be just another mental state? Joy perhaps, at memories of a lost or damaged loved one.

i was "thinking"

back when them dudes wrote the bible

they thought the sun was the "big light in the sky" and the stars were "little tiny lights" and so it seems from an earthly perspective.

but nowadays we know that some of those "little lights" are much bigger, much MUCH bigger than our sun.

that's why mythologies need updating.

Close Taylor, but both are real places. Not just something in our mind. Hell is hell because it is so bad. Not just our mental anguish, but also being devoid of all our normalties and God himself.

Fascinating!

If they are real places, Why do they have to be imagined?

This is why I state that 80% of church attending people are not going to heaven - because they do no show their belief by their actions to be like Christ - care, give, share, spread God's message and more.
You've shared some of the fruits of your faith. Praying for someone to become so sick that the pain far exceeds what cancer can inflict (and "succeeding"). Threatening someone on this board with illness, saying you would do so without hesitation. Then claiming you do this only as a last resort - even though obviously you could very easily avoid this bulletin board, a minute part of the internet. This leads one to believe you wield black magick prayers at the drop of a hat. It appears you are part of the 80%.

From you.

You couldn't possibly have visited heaven nor hell, so you use your interpretation of a book to imagine these two things, then you pass that off as knowledge.
