I made a post on Facebook, but only a few of you are my friend on Facebook, so I thought I would ask you here. I find it pretty disgusting that he has a grandchild, and has acted as if that grandchild didn't exist until I believe today. Imagine being that child, to later learn that your grandfather was the President of the United States, yet he never spoke of you, and was embarrassed by your very existence.
Personally, I don't care enough about this situation to have an opinion. I'm sure Joe Biden isn't perfect. Who is? Besides, many families have to deal with messy, embarrassing situations, and if you're POTUS, something like this is even more difficult to deal with because you're in the spotlight. I can imagine that, privately, Joe Biden is very conflicted about his son, Hunter. And who can blame him for not publicly acknowledging his 7th grandchild, given the circumstances of the child's birth.

I'm also suspicious of the newsworthiness of this situation. I doubt any of these newspapers I read (Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Economist, and Washington Post) will have covered it. Though I can guess that FoxNews, which devotes about 80 percent of its coverage to Hunter Biden these days, is probably all over it.

All that said, I do recognize why Chris O'Connor may legitimately be troubled by the story, given his own upbringing. And it helps to remember that this 7th grandson is an innocent child who deserves better by the adults in his life.

You're probably right. Hunter has to be rather embarrassing at times for his father, and the whole family. And you're also right that this might hit me hard because of my childhood events. Good analysis.
