Yesssss! Some Like it Hot is one of the classics.
Marilyn, like Emma Hamilton, was so beautiful.....never looks dated.
Can you see the resemblance?

Re: All Time Best Comedy Movies
Two nights ago, I also saw Bringing up Baby. And although I like watching new comedies as well, I really like this one, because the acting is really excellent and the script, the pace of the dialogue. It made me feel amused and stressed a bit, because the main character (the girl) didn't stop talking. Great movie.
Last night I watched Hamlet 2, strange, bizarre but at some points hilarious.

Re: All Time Best Comedy Movies
I'm going to toss in a very old comedy, since it's not likely to get mentioned here much, if at all. The film is It's a Gift starring W.C. Fields, and I think perhaps his best. He's as graceful and put-upon as one can imagine, trying to to survive with his dream of owning an orange grove one day, amid a pedestrian life running a grocery and with a too-demanding family.
But what's so hilarious are the numerous "set pieces" throughout the film, many of them now classic -- trying to sleep on a porch as a young girl and her mother are shouting at one another about what they plan to do (the phrase, "I don't know," being repeated more in the scene than perhaps any other in a film, ever). Or trying to sell a customer a single kumquat while Mr. Merkle "the blind man" enters the store waving his cane. Or the eternal dinners with his family, complaining about nearly everything when all he wants to do is have a simple bite. And so much more. A gentle, laugh-out-loud hoot.

My all time favorite comedy is The 'Burbs. I have seen it a thousand times and it never gets old. I also like the Fletch movies and Ace Ventura ones as well.

Re: All Time Best Comedy Movies
I confess one of my faves is What's Up Doc - somehow they crammed into a relatively short film myriad classic devices: mistaken identities (of people and objects), good old gags (well, whole storms of it... probably a good 20mins toward the end of the film are a direct hommage to the silent movies' great chaotic chases), physical comedy, linguistic comedy (at a speed that is sometimes dazzling), superb acting even in totally episodic roles, cartoon-esque turns of events, archetypal characters, action and surreal comedy overlapping completely...
True, it is not inventive in the strict sense, but I just marvel at how the script managed to create this texture of gazillion great comedy moments of very different nature... and somehow they all work together
