Writing and Books are my passion
My name is Celine and I am a female from Connecticut. I love to read the classics, a good romance, a ghost story, a gothic tale, and autobiographies of public figures I find fascinating.
I play the guitar and banjo and I like to travel. I also love to raise plants.
I have been writing since I was a kid and I love to write poetry, short stories and children's books.

Re: Writing and Books are my passion
Thanks for your welcome. I wrote a ghost story for children-a book, entitled "Olivia MacAllister, Who Are You?" and it was published back in 2004. Now I am going to send it to a second publisher along with my sequel to it. It is so hard to sell books though especially the economy being what it is and it is hard to get kids to read. When I was a kid, I loved to sit and read. My Mom was always an avid reader and she still is. So is my sister. I think there is nothing more relaxing than to make a cup of tea and sit and read.

Re: Writing and Books are my passion
Hi
When I was in high school I took a course in Creative Writing because I always loved to write and I started sending things off to magazines and journals. Some were very encouraging while others were a bit on the mean side but I didn't let it get me down and I kept writing and writing. I took more writing courses in college and after quite a few years of submitting and getting rejections, I got my first poem published with Night Roses. From there on, I kept getting publishe but I got rejections too. It's a tough business but when you love to write you just don't give up your dream.

Have you ever recorded yourself playing? I'd love to hear if you're not shy about your playing.

When I get settled in our new condo, I will make a recording and you can let me know where to send it. My pen pal in Australia wants me to do the same thing. I play the guitar too.

Acoustic guitar is such a beautiful instrument. I guess I'm just a complete music nut. My wife and I just saw Dolly Parton in concert a few days ago and in February I'm seeing Keb Mo.
Yes, please do send me a music file if you can email it. But a CD recording would work too. My contact info is on the Contact page at contact.php

Re: Writing and Books are my passion
I've tried... I'm in a band, and we went to our local recording studio and had our song recorded, but I was never really happy with it... I usually start a song, but then I can never figure out how to finish it so the endings are always not what I want them to be and I can never be happy with them... drives me insane! haha

Rejection is part of the business. I have an entire file box full of rejection slips, but I made a career out of writing and it paid the bills for over twenty years, while allowing me to do what I loved. By the way, I also play the guitar and have ever since I was a teenager. Before I became a professional writer, I made my living as a Rock musician, and I still keep my old acoustic in a stand by my desk (it often complains to me that I don’t pay enough attention to it). Anyway, hang in there and welcome to Booktalk.
