The voice refers to whether or not the author of a scene uses font in the text to show if a character is YELLING, or seething or threatening or if he uses descriptive adjectives.

"I'm going to kill you," he threatened, through clenched teeth.

Keith, I disagree. Voice in lit means the style, and within that style, the underlying content, of an author's manner of writing.

Some author's have such a distinct 'voice' that you can pretty much identify them from an unnamed selection. Others' voices are indistinct.

A new writer often takes years to find his/her 'voice', that distinct style that makes his work uniquely his.
