Oroonoko by Behn - anyone have an experience?
Alyson of Bathe's feeble attempt at completing the 1001 books challenge. You would think a former English major would have a better start than this. The World was Hers for the Reading

An obscure one:
Children of the Archbishop by Norman Collins
I saw in on the bargain trolley at work and I liked the vintage dustwrapper. Published in the 1950's.
It begins with passengers on a London Bus, and then goes on to tell their interconnected stories. Lovely! But a bit 'British' and Empire Loyalist. Bearing in mind that our British Empire now consists of a telephone kiosk in the Orkneys!

Only those become weary of angling who bring nothing to it but the idea of catching fish.

Call for the Dead by Le Carre
Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful. — Edward Gibbon

Are you pushing your own short comings on us and safely hating them from a distance?
Is this the virtue of faith? To never change your mind: especially when you should?
Young Earth Creationists take offense at the idea that we have a common heritage with other animals. Why is being the descendant of a mud golem any better?

Re: What are you currently reading?
Book V of "The Dark Tower Series", Steven King, and
"Street Life: My Story", Wayne Kernochan
Having a really hard time getting into this particular book in the DT series. I don't know if I'm tired of it at this point or if Steven King got tired of it at this point.
"Street Life" is a memoir, it's very edgy, very graphic.

Nette by Barbara Rayne. It feels a little rushed, but I like it so far.
